Camp Farnam

Camp Farnam is a fully-functional state licensed daytime camp ground facility situated on 72 acres of idyllic wooded country in Durham, Connecticut that has been providing a weekday camp program every summer since 1951. Camp Farnam facilities include an Olympic-size in-ground swimming pool, pond, kitchen and dining facilities, picnic areas, baseball field and basketball court. Numerous hiking trails lead out from the camp site and campers can gather in a beautiful pavilion designed and built by a team from Yale University.

Camp Farnam provides a complete summer day camp experience to boys and girls ages 5 to 12. Children attend camp Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm on a seasonal basis from July through August. Children participate is a full range of camp activities including Red Cross swimming instruction, arts & crafts, hiking, nature studies, sports, field events, nutrition, cook-outs and more! The program emphasizes the group experience while developing an appreciation for nature and our environment. Applicants are considered without regard to race, creed color, sex, sexual orientation, mental disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, age or physical disability.  

Registration

Parents can register their children in person at the Farnam Neighborhood House at 162 Fillmore Street in New Haven.  Early registration will taken place on each Saturday in March on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th).  Open registration will take place throughout April and May.  Due to state licensing requirements, each camper must have a physical examination signed by their physician in order to attend the Camp Farnam. There is a $10 registration fee per family and a $125 weekly fee per child.  See our Rules and Regulations regarding attendance at Camp Farnam. Scholarships are available through the Fresh Air Fund and the Farnam Board of Directors.

Schedule

This year, Camp Farnam is in session Monday through Friday from July 3rd to August 11. Children can attend one week, two weeks or all summer.  The two week sessions are as follows:

SESSION 1: JULY 3 - JULY 14

SESSION 2: JULY 17 - JULY 28

SESSION 3: JULY 31 - AUGUST 11

Transportation

Campers are transported by bus from the Farnam Neighborhood House at 162 Fillmore Street in New Haven, Connecticut. In addition, "pick up points" are located in and around the Fair Haven area for easy and convenient pickup of your child or children. Transportation arrangements are made between Camp Farnam and the parents or guardian of the child at the time of application to the camp.

Renting Camp Farnam

Camp Farnam is available for rentals at a very reasonable cost for any purpose on weekends and selected weekdays in May, June and September. With beautiful Camp Farnam as your setting, any event for 10 to 200 people including corporate events, employee outings, staff retreats, fund raisers, club events, school & family reunions, weddings and anniversaries will be special.
